Doug Osburn Received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Gulf Energy Information Excellence Awards!

We are honored to announce that Doug Osburn won the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2024 Gulf Energy Information Excellence Awards, at the Post Oak Hotel in Houston, Texas!

Doug’s Story

After first gaining experience in the automation field, visionary Doug Osburn founded AUTOSOL in 1987.

In 1994, he created AUCS (AutoSol Universal Communication Server) to solve the integration challenges associated with SCADA and Measurement communications. It combined several protocol drivers, across a multitude of connection methods, into a single easy-to-use server.

As AUTOSOL’s product capabilities expanded to better meet clients’ needs, Doug developed the AutoSol Enterprise Server (AES), which later evolved into AUTOSOL’s current OPC Server, AUTOSOL Communication Manager (ACM).

But he didn’t stop there! Always an innovator at heart, Doug applied for his first patent which was awarded in September of 2003. The patent covered a large SCADA system methodology that included an intelligent remote terminal unit that was able to have applications applied to it- without interrupting its service. 

After nearly four decades, it’s estimated that a combination of Doug’s patented inventions over the years have resulted in AUTOSOL’s essential products being used on more than 70% of North America’s natural gas pipelines.

His significant contributions to data communications software has enabled global oil and gas pipeline companies to operate their SCADA systems efficiently and securely– to deliver the products that run America.
