AUTOSOL Proud to be the Presenting Sponsor for a Major Periwinkle Foundation Fundraiser

Annual fundraiser pits local sommeliers against each other as they vie for the coveted title Iron Sommelier

AUTOSOL is proud to be the presenting sponsor for the 11th Annual Iron Sommelier, benefiting The Periwinkle Foundation on Oct. 30, 2019. The event will be held from 6-10 p.m. at The Houstonian Hotel, where some of the city’s most dynamic sommeliers compete for the highly coveted title of Iron Sommelier. Participants are presented with the wines by local sommeliers to compare and vote for their favorite.

The event, which hosts around 600 attendees, ultimately benefits the kids at Texas Children’s Hospital as they take on their battle with cancer and other life-threatening challenges. Last year’s Iron Sommelier event, which includes a massive silent auction, raised a record-setting $320,000 for the foundation.

Each year, more than 4,000 children are touched by Periwinkle programs like Camp Periwinkle, CampYOLO, Family Camp, the Long Term Survivor Program the Arts & Creative Writing Program which culminates each year in a traveling exhibition of art by children touched by cancer and blood disorders. It provides multiple camps and other events which offers a break from their hospital routine, as well as meeting other children in their same situation – and just to feel like a kid again.

“The Periwinkle Foundation does a tremendous job uplifting these kids as they go through their tough situation of fighting cancer. The camps support not only the children, but also their siblings and parents,” said Doug Osburn, President and CEO of AUTOSOL. “We’re so excited to collaborate with the Periwinkle team for such an incredible cause.”
