Kimray Protocol and ACM

In tandem with the AUTOSOL Communication Manager® (ACM) OPC server, the Kimray protocol works to bring operators data from the field of industrial automation and beyond. It works to coordinate and monitor pipeline activities through an Electronic Flow Monitor (EFM) system, bringing technicians current reads from devices in the field.

The Kimray protocol is one of many that ACM is compatible with — ensuring companies’ legacy devices are still functional in an ever-changing automation industry. It works to make SCADA environments more manageable and more organized to ensure organized operation through a Human Machine Interface (HMI). The device stores hourly, daily, alarm, event records in its hardware – retrievable by AUTOSOL’s polling engine, ACM. This data can be provided to software such as Quorum’s FLOWCAL .

Kimray and unsolicited messages

To ensure optimal communication from remote field devices, some devices support unsolicited messages. This is when communication is initiated by the field device, instead of a master. This feature brings industrial automation operators a peace of mind knowing that devices can alert them when levels become dangerous.

AUTOSOL Communication Manager (ACM) extends companies’ SCADA systems abilities

For more than 35 years, AUTOSOL (Automation Solutions) has been building custom drivers to ensure the efficient and reliable transfer of commands, programs, data and information between control systems and endpoint SCADA devices like PLCs. The ACM polling engine speaks to devices in their native protocols to enable communication between incompatible devices, making it easy to add devices, including Kimray, to a SCADA system and ensuring information is consistently being communicated.

Because ACM isn’t dedicated to one specific protocol, Kimray devices are able to interact. Companies will reap the benefits the Kimray offers while saving costs associated with having to update an entire SCADA system to devices that speak the protocol.

Combining the flexibility of AUTOSOL’s ACM and custom drivers means companies are not obligated to construct and update a SCADA system with one brand and its protocols. As a leader in the industry, AUTOSOL takes communication between devices seriously. With our leading software solutions, your Kimray will be able to transmit and receive data from all other SCADA devices.
